The following is a press release from C4i Consultants.
One Million Lives
C4i Consultants is running a country-wide disaster preparation exercise in Jamaica from July 14-18 2014. The exercise is being hosted by the Jamaican Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (OPDEM) and will feature our award-winning Emergency and Disaster Management Simulation (EDMSIM) software.
The focus of the exercise will be developing and testing plans for the upcoming hurricane season. The aim is to improve crisis decision making, planning, and multi-agency communications. Nearly all aspects of Jamaica's emergency preparedness will be tested, including the Jamaican Defense Forces, Police and Fire departments, Ministry of Health, Emergency Medical Services, Hospitals, Customs, and many Non-governmental agencies.
This is the first country-wide computer simulation exercise ever attempted in the Caribbean. It is also the first event in our "One Million Lives" humanitarian initiative.
Twenty computer simulation stations will provide exercise participants with a realistic scenario where all players can fully participate. The exercise will focus on the 72 hours prior to a weather event, the actual event and be followed by an after action review that highlights lessons learned and identifies areas where change in response planning is required. This exercise is part of C4I Consultants initiative in South America and the Caribbean to bring computer simulation to emergency and disaster preparation.
We believe that together with other companies, governments and NGOs, we can save one million lives if we can train disaster managers and first responders to make better, fully tested plans, utilize resources effectively and communicate efficiently during disasters. C4i intends to help other "at risk" countries during other upcoming exercises and events in the future and we welcome the assistance of other companies, agencies and governments in helping to meet our "One Million Lives" goal.
