A Capital Affair
Esprit de Corps was once again proud to not only support but to also participate in the 10th anniversary of Canada Army Run. With over 21,000 runners and tens of thousands of additional onlookers this was the biggest Army Run to ever hit the streets of Ottawa. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s appearance was a welcome surprise for many of those in attendance when he showed up to run the 5 Km event. Governor General David Johnston and his wife Sheila were on hand at the finish line to high five runners who completed the course. The soaring heat and humidity was a challenging factor, (on the eve of the run there was even official talk about a full cancellation due to the risk of heat stroke) -particularly for those running in the half-marathon. However fears proved unfounded and true to the overall nature of the event, everyone 'soldiered on’ and made the best of it. The organizers are to be commended for another first rate Run, which showcased Canada’s Army to the public at large. Bravo Zulu.
