Battle of Britain Parade

On September 18, Canada Aviation and Space museum hosted the annual Battle of Britain ceremony, which honours the airmen who served and died for their country during the Second World War, as well as the men and women who are currently serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Loreena McKennit, Honorary Colonel of the RCAF, sang the National Anthem. Major-General Al Meinzinger, Deputy Commander of the RCAF, spoke on behalf of Canada and Wing Commander Simon Hulme spoke on behalf of the United Kingdom. There were two fly pasts during the event; the first included a flight by a Lancaster bomber from Hamilton’s Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum accompanied by a WWII fighter escort of a Corsair and a Mustang from Gatineau’s Vintage Wings of Canada; the second was of a CAF Polaris and two CF-18s.
